The world’s greatest power trio podcasters are back with a new episode! However, The Trio will never be the same. A long hiatus was due largely in part to the biggest little addition to the group. If you haven’t heard, please join us in welcomeing Emmet Erbach to the world!

To celebrate, in podcast form, The Trio got together in Cary at the ooool’ Cary Family to cover the following news stories…

The boys also review the highly anticipated new record from Joyce Manor Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired. Josh plays a track from Proper by Into It. Over It. and Chris plays a track by Believe You Me from For The Record, both of whom are Chicago locals.

So sit back, and take the next hour and 38 minutes of you’re life, and enjoy the show that we love making so much. I mean… we’re just talking fruits and vegetables here right? Who can’t get behind that? Stick around for what is arguably the best ending of any show we’ve had yet…

The fine gentlemen got together in the distant northern town of Harvard Illinois with Marky Hladish, of The Felix Culpa and Venna fame, to ramble about the following in the way only music geeks can…

  • Using Twitter to discover who the hell this “Paul McCartney” character is
  • Dave Ghrol’s response to his grammy speech, and whether electronic music has any soul
  • The music industries’ latest finger pointing at Google, and how that decision lacks common sense
  • The outbreak of bands reuniting, and if that is actually a good thing

The new John K. Sampson record Provincial has been making its rounds on the internet as an early contender for best of 2012, so the boys decided to listen to it with a critical ear, and give it a review.

They also play a track from Baltimore’s Wye Oak and Chicago’s own Hidden Hospitals.

Finally, when 4 handsome, talented young men get together, it’s almost expect they would decide to form a band. In this case, they formed the ill-fated, but highly influential band Dog Wise. (2012-2012)

Its our big year end wrap up show! This time, we met up in Cary Illinois with long time robot enthusiast, and ex band mate Dave Schwantes to chat chicken about the following…

  • The startup company Slowbizz wants to have bands play in your living room, and if it’s a worthwhile service in our opinion
  • The RIAA’s statement that suing individuals was a great move, and their offices being caught in embarassing  hypocrisy
  • The heated debate about present, future, and effective use of social media by bands and artists

We also felt the need to keep up with the rest of the internets, and compile a list of the greatest stories and records from 2011, to name the official story and record of the year. Finally, we stream new tracks from Chicago band CounterpunchTegan and Sara, and a tasty jam from Joyce Manor.

When 4 guys that used to write music and have sleep overs (not the in same bed) get together to do a podcast, you can bet your  bottom dollar that there will be a silly, probably stupid, possibly funny show.

It’s been a long time coming, but here it is! For the big one year anniversary show, the boys meet up on Black Friday at location of Episode 1 to do what they do best. Not only is it the anniversary show, but it’s ALSO a world first Twin-tacular show because Danes twin brother Alan joined the crew to bicker (Erbach style) about the following stories.

We also review the new sampler from Pure Noise and play a track from The American Scene. Alan tossed out a suggestion and played a track from Hawks and Doves record Year One, while Dane recommended a song from DMND off their self titled EP.

Do you have what it takes to handle this much awesome… nay this much twin in one episode?

In this unprecedented episode, the Power Trio convenes again in Woodstock, IL to get silly and overanalyze the following in the world of music…

The gentlemen also review the much anticipated new record from Four Year Strong In Some Way Shape or Form. Also, Dane recommends a track from Sea Haven’s new record Winter Forever and Chris suggests a track from Nothington’s record Borrowed Time.

Finally at the 36:42 mark, in a bold act of social defiance, some crotchety old lady yells at the boys for being “too loud” when they clearly weren’t. In response, Chris gets angry, Josh gets defensive, and Dane giggles uncomfortably. If you find 3 young guys discussing music at your local diner and having a good time, yell at them…. Chances are those punks are up to no good.

Finally, Josh and Chris make repeated jabs at Dane’s slow, ungraceful aging while he drinks far too many cups of coffee and talks far too much. Also, Chris gets a little too upset about a loud child in a nearby booth, and Josh still has braces.

Eric Mueller Part II – This Time It’s Personal…In this episode, we meet up with our first ever returning guest of canyouseethesunsetfromthesouthside fame at Dennys in West Dundee/Carpentersville IL to eat crappy food, laugh more than adult men should, and banter about the following subjects…

  • The Gibson guitar factory was raided over the charge of some some “illegal” wood
  • My Chemical Romance had a drummer that was recently kicked out over some questionable activity
  • We debate the ideology of breaking into the music industry in regard to education versus experience.
  • We review the newest release by The Copyrights North Sentinel Island

We also stream some songs from Dear Landlord’s Dream Homes, and one from Family Lumber’s new EP Look To The Sidelines

Finally, we discover Eric’s love for spousal abuse, Chris’s love for pretentious people, Josh’s love for braces, and Danes love for dropping the ball… We still love him.

They’ve got new songs from Heartsounds new record Drifter, Bomb the Music Industry!’s Vacation, and The Story So Far’s record Under Soil and Dirt

Big thanks again to Heartsounds for sitting down with us. PLEASE get their amazing new record from Epitaph Records, Drifter

In this precedent setting episode of Rock and Roll Brunch, the power trio meet up at Andy’s Restaurant in Crystal Lake Illinois, to overanalyze the following subjects…

  • (sigh…) Lady Gaga’s new record sold a lot of records, (and how we feel about that)
  • We had the opportunity to sit down and have a beer  with Red City Radio and talk about life as a touring musician and their thoughts on recent controversy over the band Elway (and a world first announcement and a guest appearance by Ryan from Mixtapes)
  • A case for the major labels and how they might actually be the victims of new media (and how thats probably not true)

The dudes also play tracks from How Dare You’s The King, The Clown, and The Colonel, Spraynard’s Funtitled, and Frank Turner’s new record England Keep My Bones.

Again we can’t thank Red City Radio for sitting down with us and doing the show, we had a seriously great time. Everyone should go buy their new record. Lastly, Dane discovers his love for the francheesy, Chris fails to deliver the anger, and Josh can’t stop coughing.
